This afternoon, a crowd of over 35,000 attended at Anfield where an Everton XI managed by David Moyes, including Lee Carsley and Francis Jeffers, were the sacrificial lambs for boyhood Evertonian and now much hated Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, in this testimonial celebrating 14 years with that lot across the Park. Everton: Turner, Hibbert, Nsiala, Duffy, Garbutt, Baxter, Osman, Carsley, Gueye, Yakubu, Jeffers. Subs: Baines, Wallace, Akpan, Arteta, Craig, A Davies, Vaughan, Beckford, Thompson, Barkley.

Top of the Financial Fair Play League
Everton's prowess under David Moyes has been uniquely recognized in terms of the exceptional value delivered from relatively modest investment in the players he has brought to the club. That's the conclusion of a study by Dr Sue Bridgewater from the University of Warwick that assesses league performance against expenditure on wages and transfer fees. In the FInancial Fair Play League for 2009-10 season, Everton came top while Man CIty were bottom.

Everton squad confirmed

21 players over 21, includes 8 Homegrown
As expected, Everton are in pretty good shape regarding the new rules limiting squad size in the Premier League. The Club have submitted their named squad of players for the next portion of the new season, with 21 players over the age of 21 on 1 January 2010, of whom nine qualify as Homegrown. They also list seven "eligible" players under 21, including Rodwell, Silva and Gueye, although any of the Academy players under 21 can be added to the squad.
